by Jack Felson
My first is STRAIGHT, EXCITING, and ORIGINAL,
My second offers DARK and HARD situations,
My third is often COMICAL, if not HILARIOUS,
My last depicts and deals with TRAGIC characters.
My whole is called :
FOUR
Four is a little book with unique content, which tells four short stories that are totally different but connected together by one single character - a young funeral employee, who has many misadventures that are used to introduce the short stories. On his way home, he even crosses the key character of the first story and falls in the middle of one of the criminal events described in the second.
Four is a new kind of work, jumping from one literary genre to another, without losing sight of humor; it is an experimental and intriguing piece of literature, halfway between the novella collection and the classical novel, with stories able to take place at the same time as well as in completely separate moments.
Four can be the basis for one full-length screen or stage adaptation, as well as for four, if the stories are taken separately.
